The Catholic School Celebrates 25 Years of Smiles
Ontario. March 20, 2023 — Ontario's eight French-language Catholic school boards and the
Franco-Ontarian Association of Catholic School Boards (AFOCSC) are celebrating
their 25th anniversary this year! To mark this important milestone, The Catholic School has
prepared various activities for students and staff, including a highly original competition that
will bring out the beautiful smiles of its school community, which is at the heart of these
celebrations: 25 years of smiles!
Today, Ontario's French-language Catholic school boards have more than 77,000 students,
employ over 11,200 staff members, and include some 300 schools in which more than
180 childcare services operate.
“Catholic Francophones have now had the management of their very own schools for 25 years,
since our School Board – the Grandes Rivières Catholic District School Board – as well
as the seven other French-language Catholic School Boards of Ontario were created in 1998.”
proudly explains Roger Grégoire, Chair of the Conseil scolaire catholique de district des Grandes
Rivers (CSCDGR). “Therefore, the Catholic School has been working hard to ensure a flourishing
French-language Catholic education in Ontario with a constant momentum for 25 years.
