First Nations, Métis and Inuit

Each of our schools is committed to welcoming and supporting Indigenous students. Our schools have a variety of resources to develop an appreciation of the cultures, traditions and perspectives of First Nations, Métis and Inuit. Staff members participate in training to learn about different cultures, including Aboriginal cultures.

In addition, we strive to create opportunities for collaboration with various organizations to provide the best possible services to First Nations, Métis and Inuit families.

The term "native" refers to the original inhabitants of Canada and their descendants. According to Constitution Act, 1982, Aboriginal peoples are made up of three nations: Métis, Inuit and First Nations. Aboriginal ancestry, on the other hand, refers to anyone who has Aboriginal origins in their family tree and who identifies with Aboriginal culture.
