CSCDGR Makes a Standout at the 2025 Ontario Skills Competition:
A HARVEST OF MEDALS AND PROVINCIAL RECOGNITION


Timmins, May 21, 2025 *This press release is a revised version of the press release published on May 16 – The Conseil scolaire catholique des Grandes Rivières (CSCDGR) proudly celebrates the remarkable performances of its students at the Skills Ontario 2025 competition, held on May 5, 6, and 7 in Toronto. École secondaire catholique de Hearst and École secondaire catholique Thériault distinguished themselves through their excellence in several disciplines, thus consolidating the CSCDGR's reputation as a leader in Francophone vocational training.


Exceptional results for our students
Hearst Catholic High School:
o Gold Medal in outdoor electrical equipment – ​​Hugo Bilodeau
o Gold Medal in welding – Xavier Veilleux
Thériault Catholic High School:
o Silver Medal in demonstration of professional aptitude – Grace Kelly
o Silver Medal in culinary arts – Jo-Anne Vane
o Bronze medal in floral art – Morgan Mayer

These distinctions are a testament to the commitment and talent of our students, supported by dedicated teachers and quality teaching programs.

Two provincial recognitions for CSCDGR students
Hugo Bilodeau, a student at the Hearst Catholic Secondary School, was honored with the Award of Excellence for being the best competitor in the competition among French-speaking students. In the same category, Xavier Veilleux, also a student at the École secondaire catholique de Hearst, won second place. The CSCDGR would like to warmly congratulate these students: through these wonderful recognitions they have earned, they confirm the Council's conscious commitment to promoting excellence in education and preparing its students for promising careers in the skilled trades.

On the way to the national competition
Building on their provincial successes, two students from École secondaire catholique de Hearst and one student from École secondaire catholique Thériault will proudly represent Ontario at the Skills Canada National Competition, which will be held in Regina, Saskatchewan, on May 29 and 30, 2025. They will have the opportunity to showcase their expertise and compete with the country's top talent.

The Director of Education and Secretary-Treasurer, Mr. Jérémie Lepage, says he is very proud of the students and their teachers: "For a long time, the CSDGR has distinguished itself among the best in the province in Skills Ontario activities, like this year. It is with pride that the CSCDGR has invested more than half a million dollars in technological equipment in our high schools, to support our students. Today, it is with joy that we can see, with our great successes, the result of this investment, the efforts of our staff, as well as the work and perseverance of our students! They shine! We look forward to seeing our students shine, once again, at the national competition."
